My heart sank,
I didn’t know what to think.
Sitting all alone,
With chill about my bones.
Thinking how cruel this world can seem,
Wondering how such a horrid thing could ever be.
Remembering hopes and dreams that will never cease,
Of the person I so longed to see.
Feeling helpless and praying at length,
For friends and family to gather strength.
For they to have lost a piece,
That words and touches can not ease.
Now for a moment we must pause our lives,
Looking to the sky not long enough to appreciate her eyes.
Pondering what life is and wanting to shout,
Forgetting all the world’s problems and daily clout.
Realizing a wonderful life has been stopped incomplete,
Of a woman we again one day will meet.
She’s in a place more elegant than we,
Only now through memories,
We feel the presence she brings.
